Our Story

Founded in 2019, Shift Coastal Technologies has rapidly grown into a key Canadian player in both coastal environmental monitoring and maritime security. Operating from Nanaimo, British Columbia, in partnership with the Snuneymuxw First Nation, Shift specializes in developing and operating innovative, dual-use marine robotic systems (UMS/ASV). Shift has dedicated significant effort, spending thousands of hours collaborating with defense primes, Indigenous partners, and government agencies to address the gap in sense-making, real-time imagery, covert monitoring and high fidelity data . As a result of this focus and its development of platforms like the OceanSled® Shift holds the market share of commercially deployed USVs for Coastal Security and ISR in the Canadian market.
